About the Author
Rick Smolan is a former Time, Life, and National Geographic photographer best known as the creator of the "Day in the Life" book series. He is CEO of Against All Odds Productions. Smolan's global photography projects combine creative storytelling with state-of-the-art technology. Many of his books have appeared on the New York Times best-seller lists and have been featured on the covers of Fortune, Time, Newsweek, and US News & World Report. His books include The Obama Time Capsule and From Alice to Ocean, among a plethora of others. One of Rick's more recent publications is The Human Face of Big Data which captures how the planet is developing a nervous system. Fortune magazine describes Against All Odds as "One of the 25 Coolest Companies in America." His latest project, Inside Tracks, retells Robyn Davidson's journey across the Australian Outback, and how this unique story became a major motion picture. Rick lives with his family in New York.

Inside Tracks - a parallel reality in beautiful images

I love the film "Tracks"(starring Mia Wasikowska), it's breathtakingly beautiful and moving, and I love the brilliant Robyn Davidson memoir upon which it was based. There is more than one angle to a story, especially one as personal, mythic, both timeless and of-a-time, as the journey in "Tracks". This gorgeous and exquisitely detailed coffee-table book, "Inside Tracks", is obviously a labor of love that brings into sharp focus (how's that for a metaphor) a young woman's compelling trek across the outback that opened endless vistas, both outward, and, most tellingly, within herself. With both the original stunning photographs and then contemporary ones from the film and it's production, this edition of Robyn Davidson's story really helps draw together the real and the abstract journey it has taken over the last several decades - from trek, to photos, to book and now to movie. The photographer Rick Smolan (played by Adam Driver in the film) has really created a thing of beauty that will take me a while to absorb - this is a wonderful book, for the photos and also for the text and the movie's script, with accompanying stills. There's also some superb writing from Robyn herself that is strategically placed halfway in the book, between the original journey and the one taken in the film. I'm also looking forward to making use of the smartphone application, which can only heighten the parallel reality of this unique and memorable journey.

Saw this movie in the theater and couldn't wait for ...

Saw this movie in the theater and couldn't wait for it to be released on DVD. So much more of an accomplishment than Cheryl Strayed in Wild. Also bought the book by Robyn Davidson and the book of photographer Rick Smolan. Went on eBay and got the National Geographic magazine from May 1978. Definitely a movie to have in your personal library.

Clifton D. Bryant is Professor Emeritus of Sociology at Virginia Tech, US. He is the editor-in-chief of the Encyclopedia of Criminology and Deviant Behavior (Routledge, 2001), editor of the Handbook of Death & Dying (Sage, 2003), co-editor of 21st Century Sociology: a Reference Handbook (Sage, 2007), and co-editor of the Encyclopedia of Death and the Human Experience (Sage, 2009). Other publications include Deviant Behavior: Readings in the Sociology of Norm Violations (Hemisphere Publishing Corporation, 1990), Sexual Deviancy and Social Proscription: The Social Context of Carnal Behavior (Human Sciences Press, Inc., 1982), and Khaki-Collar Crime: Deviant Behaviour in the Military Context (The Free Press, 1979). A Wonderful Devotional

Relationships. They aren't easy and good ones don't just happen. If you want a good, strong relationship with someone, you have to work at it. You have to make a commitment. The more we invest in a relationship with another who cares for us, the better it will be. And the same goes with God. If we truly want a good, strong relationship where we can solely rely on God, we must make a commitment and work at it.

Joyce Meyer's Hearing from God Each Morning--365 Daily Devotions can help you strengthen your relationship with God through her daily meditations. This guide serves as a reminder to what is really important and to be able to recognize God's voice through all the noise of the world.

The readings are short and begin with a biblical quote followed by a short essay by Joyce. It ends with God's Word for You Today. I found these daily readings to be insightful and powerful. They applied to everyday life and reminded me where my focus needed to be at. Joyce writes in a down-to-earth clear cut manner, and really drives her point home. The readings are inspirational and positive. They really encourage you to grasp God's message and do His works.

I have many daily devotionals and usually find I read a few pages and the book gets pushed by the wayside. This one, however, will not. I was eager to read the next pages and will continue to reread this book. This devotional made me think more about my relationship with God and listen more closely to his Word.

This is a great book for yourself and would also make a wonderful gift.

Each day had a scripture verse, followed by a teaching from Joyce and ends with "God's Word For You Today". This book is small and can fit in your pocket book or large pocket. This is a great addition to your daily readings and also to your home library. This is a great daily devotional to start your day with.

I am reading this devotional to my kids, ages 6 and 10, every morning at breakfast.
It's easy to understand, yet it gives us all something to ponder and discuss as we start our day. Each dated entry is one page long.
There's a scripture verse, a short teaching from Joyce, and a thought for the day.
I recommend this to new believers, families with school-aged children or people that want to get a taste of God's word before the day begins.

A classic comic-book that hides much deeper meaning

Released on 26th April 2015, exactly three years after Cambodian environmental activist Chut Wutty was shot dead, this graphic novel tells the tale of the Hindu god Krisna (aka “Captain Cambodia”) and his nemesis, the demon-spirit “It”. After an explanatory foreword and a short prologue it's divided into three sections: the Khmer Empire, Civil War, and Peace, Stability and Development.
It's a graphic novel that can be read on several different levels: simply as a classic comic-book clash of good versus evil, but also as a critique of Cambodian politics. Doubtless Cambodians, or those that know the country well, will find a third level of understanding in certain references.
